To use, push forward on the lever on the back side of the handle, and grab and pull the tool blade end out until it clicks. To retract, push the round button down and push the tool blade in until it is flush with the handle. This carbon removal tool is compatible with .223 Cal/5.56mm modern sporting rifles.
