Merino wool has an antibacterial effect and thus avoids the appearance of unpleasant odors after sweating. The socks are made in such a way that both the sole and the heel, including the ankle and the toe area, are reinforced. These areas therefore remain particularly warm, and signs of wear appear much later. The same reinforcement also extends a long way up the heel, so that blisters do not form during long hikes. In addition, this short version of the Merkel GEAR socks have a special “ventilation knit” on the instep that allows air to penetrate into the toe area and under the outsole.
